His own children abandoned an old man in the forest without food or water for the sake of his inheritance, hoping that wild animals would devour him. But what the wolf did shocked everyone. The forest was plunged into thick darkness. An elderly man sat on the damp ground at the foot of an old oak tree. His breathing was heavy, his hands trembled from the cold, his eyes filled with despair. His own children had brought him here and abandoned him like useless trash. The children had long expected his death. The inheritance—a large house, land, money—was supposed to be theirs. But the old man still wouldn’t die. So the children decided to hasten his end: they left him in the dense forest without food or water, hoping that the wild animals would quickly do their work and the police would chalk it up to an accident. The poor old man sat, leaning against the tree, terrified at every sound. The wind howled in the distance, but through it came another sound—the howling of wolves. He knew the end was near. “Oh, Lord… is it really so…” he whispered, clasping his hands in prayer. At that moment, a branch snapped. Then another. The rustling grew closer. The old man tried to rise, but his body wouldn’t obey. His eyes darted in the darkness until a wolf appeared right from the bushes. The beast slowly walked onto the path.
