Best known for her iconic role as Valene Ewing, which she first portrayed on *Dallas* in 1978 before continuing the character in the *Knots Landing* spinoff in 1979, Joan’s character had a tumultuous love life, marrying her on-screen love interest, Gary Ewing (played by Ted Shackelford), three times.
